This scaleup is a leading actor within the renewable energy industry. Supported by major infrastructure investors, they own, develop and operate large-scale projects in seven different European countries.
About the role
This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead a best-in-class accounting function within a fast-growing international renewable energy company. As Group Chief Accountant, you will be a key member of the finance leadership team, responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and driving process excellence across all markets.
You will lead a team of five accounting professionals in Stockholm and collaborate closely with a broader finance team of 11 colleagues. The role covers accounting and financial control for all entities in the group, including oversight of outsourced accounting and payroll services in certain markets.
A core focus will be optimizing systems, tools, and workflows to enhance efficiency, automation, and accuracy across financial operations—ensuring timely, reliable reporting that supports the company’s continued growth and international expansion.
Responsibilities & Activities
- Ultimately responsible for group accounting and associated reporting for over 60 companies, whereof 37 Swedish entities
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team
- Responsible for financial statements, annual reports, tax returns, and financial reporting
- Ensure quality-assured accounting in accordance with laws, regulations, and the group's guidelines
- Responsible for requirements specification and follow-up of outsourced operations
- Responsible for acquisition analysis and managing acquisitions including documentation
- Lead the audit process across all companies
- Contribute to ERP development and other improvement initiatives
- Responsible for cash flow analysis

Required background & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field'
- 20+ years of relevant experience with a background in Infrastructure, Renewable Energy, Real Estate, Construction, and/or project-based organizations
- Experience working with CapEx- and debt-heavy financial structures
- Solid knowledge of K3 and IFRS frameworks
- Demonstrated experience in consolidating a large number of group companies
- Experience in acquisition analysis
- Experience in project finance structuring and documentation
- Proven leadership skills
- Track record of streamlining finance processes and driving performance improvements
- Fluency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken
